How long has Celebrity Theatre been open? Celebrity Theatre is one of the city's most intriguing historic landmarks. In 1963, the building was originally designed as a multi-purpose conference center. Since then, Celebrity Theatre has hosted such stars as Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, George Benson, Joe Cocker, Garth Brooks, Carol Channing, Diana Ross and many other legendary performers. After extensive renovations, Celebrity Theatre re-opened its doors under new ownership in December of 1995. Within the last year alone, Celebrity Theatre has hosted such artists as Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Hootie and the Blowfish, Smashing Pumpkins, Tragically Hip, Bill Cosby, David Spade, Chris Rock and Brian Setzer.
